Long time since my last technical post on this blog. Today, we will go through the installation of the GeoIP libraries (from MaxMind) feature linked with a very common and well known DNS server (bind9 (from ISC)).

PHP 5.3 is going to be fun. I personally didn’t really follow the news on this one. I heard of lambda/closures and that pleased me. I just always hated defining functions for callbacks used only once. Not that it takes time, but I always felt forced to create a ridiculously long name for it to avoid any possible conflicts. Those times will be over… at least from the moment it will be deployed enough to justify forcing 5.3 as a requirement.

I presented the VisibleGovernment.ca Expense Visualizer pilot to a full room at Montreal on Rails yesterday, with the intention of recruiting volunteers for a soon-to-be-announced coding meetup.  The presentation was well received:  I was surprised -- and gratified -- to find a number of people already interested in online tools for government transparency in the crowd.

Hello!  Yesterday sure was PACKED at MoR 13!  Thanks to everybody for showing up, and most importantly to Jennifer and Rob for presenting.  The presentations were very insightful.
As I mentioned last night, I decided to step down from my role at MoR and I will no longer be organizing the monthly events. It’s been a lot of fun but I felt the time had come for someone else to take over. Some new blood can’t hurt after roughly 1.5 year.

Some peoples (production) would be pleased to know that fire0, air0 & water0 have been updated. All security fix are applied as soon as they are available, but mainstream patchs can be delayed a bit before getting into productions servers.

About research & development, earth0, fire1, fire2, air2, air3, air4 will be deployed next week. The interconnect is currently Ethernet-100Mbps, but there is some plan to change that to Ethernet-1000bps & infiniband. Those server are for dev ; so they better be fun ;-).

LoseThos est un système d'exploitation 64 bits open source, gratuit et du domaine public qui a été créé à partir de zéro, sans aucune compatibilité avec aucun autre système. Cet OS ne sera pas votre système principal et il n'aspire par à le devenir. Il est fait pour l'usage des programmeurs désirants avoir les privilèges sur le noyau. La particularité intéressante de LoseThos OS est sa très petite taille.

• L'utilisateur doit pouvoir basculer d'une interface française à anglaise en cliquant sur un lien (image ou texte).
• L'utilisateur doit pouvoir visionner tant le contenu français ou anglais qui a été posté même si son interface est affichée dans une langue ou dans l'autre. En d'autres mots, tout le contenu publié et ce, peu importe la langue, est disponible au sein des interfaces.

J’avais écrit dans ce billet 8 raisons pour lesquelles je ne passerais pas immédiatement (c’est important de mentionner le mot immédiatement ici) à Intrepid Ibex. Une de ces huit raisons était l’incompatibilité de mon précieux Antidote et de la version 8.10 d’Ubuntu.

Le parti libéral qui mène dans les sondages et qui brille par son absence dans les médias sociaux a les coffres bien garnis et il risque de devenir le prochain gouvernement.
